Peter Tosh - Johnny Be Goode

Peter Tosh is another one of those musicians that I was introduced to early on. I played this version of Johnny Be Goode until I broke the tape. LOL, I guess that shows how much I enjoyed it.

Bob Marley & the Wailers - Roots Rock Reggae

It goes without saying that Bob Marley will be on heavy rotation around here. I just love, love, love his music.

When I was a young seamen in the US Navy, back in the early eighties I had a girl friend named Hope, who's parents were from Jamaica. She turned me on to Bob Marley. I think that changed my life. I lost touch with Hope, but I'll always have Bob, and I thank her for that.

Toots And The Maytals - Pressure Drop

The Maytals were key figures in reggae music. Comprised of leader Frederick "Toots" Hibbert, Nathaniel "Jerry" Matthias, and Raleigh Gordon, all from Kingston, the Maytals are said to have been the first group to use the word "reggae" in a song title with their Leslie Kong-produced "Do the Reggay."
